LEWNATIC is an Asian-American rock band from San Francisco, formed in 2019 by YouTuber and American-born Sino-Japanese musician Patrick Lew Hayashi.
The band has its origins from their musical predecessor Patrick Lew Band. The band LEWNATIC would eventually make minor splashes in the indie music circuit, social-media Japanese-American community and in general just a few months after starting out. This is their story. Behind the music!
Asian-American males are not always one-dimensional model minority types who have careers in the medical or engineering field and making six figures and living large in the status quo.
They're also not always nerdy, asexual and totally undesirable citizens of society.
Sometimes, you find Asian-American men that rock like hurricanes and remind you how thrilling and universal music can be with guitars, bass, drums and impassioned vocals. And there's a second generation Asian-American male of Japanese and Chinese/Taiwanese descent looking to pull a Y2J move: "Stir up the pot and break the walls down" and become that self-proclaimed GNR of his kind. That man in his one-man rock and roll freak show known as Patrick Lew and this is how we do. Loud. Abrasive. Proud. Talented. And uber youthful and charismatic.
So what is LEWNATIC? Well. It's mostly a garage band making ROCK AND ROLL music in a 2-floor family house in San Francisco. But with the help of today's technology, the music has reached 6 continents and 34 countries worldwide on Spotify and Apple Music. And being a digital creator just trying to make something cool that will live forever. Like our 10,000 Instagram posts of countless photos from my iPhone and my YouTube videos. On boring nights during cold dark foggy weather, he's often on his phone making beats and instrumentals. Or on his iMac running Logic about to hit the RECORD button and jam out on a few guitar riffs here and there. Creating 100% original rock music!
Music is what Patrick Lew was born to do. It's what drives his burning desire and passion.
Outside of music, Patrick Hayashi has also acted in community theater and made a cameo appearance in Season 4 and Episode 1 of Emmy Award winning TV series The Man in the High Castle. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy from California State University, East Bay and currently works a full-time Multi-Purpose Clerk at SAFEWAY. He has also worked in tech for three years as a visual merchandiser and has an extensive work resume outside of the indie music industry.
All we can say is. The Lewnatic is coming to town! Watch this space!
